SWIMMING CARNIVAL

LARGE CROWD PRESENT.

GREAT RACE FOR CHAMPIONSHIP.

The Te Awamutu Swimming Club held la very successful carnival at the municipal baths last evening. There was a very large attendance and some excellent performances were put up, though the water was rather cold. Chief interest centred in the South Auckland championship, 220 yards. The competitors were N. Ross (Hamilton), T. Bell (Te Awamutu), Hall (Cambridge), Baker (Hamilton), and Adams (Te Awamutu). A great race resulted, Ross leading at the 100 yards' and 166 yards, but the final dash to the mark slaw four reach the judges within inches. The honours went to Bell, with Adams second, Time 3min. 2secs. Other results were: —

33 1-3 yards boys (local): First heat, Mensforth 1, G. Dalton 2. Second heat, E. Adams 1,- C. Reilly 2. Final: Adams 1, Mensforth 2. Won by a touch. Time 24 1-5.
