TE AWAMUTU ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. At the commencement of business at yesterday’s meeting of the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board the chairman said he desired to extend his congratulations to his fellow members on now being able to meet in the new offices, . As all could see, the jbuilding was co'mmoaidus and and a credit to the' lown and’ district!: The present building was long overdue. Since the inception of the Board in 1922 the meetings had been; held in various buildings, first in ths Waipa Post, then the Empire Theatre building, next above Mr Armstrong’s premises, and then in a room in the old auction mart in Bank Street. The last domicile was in premises in Mutu Street; and now the Board was housed in its own substantial building. It had been said that there was no need for pretentious and roomy premises, but he did not agree. Every part of the building would be used, and it was certainly not too large. Authority was given in the original loan poll to erect offices, but these had not been gone on with until revenue fully warranted' it The ratepayers.’ interests were faithfully conserved all through. The building was certainly a credit to all concerned, not forgetting the contractors (Messrs Mclnnes and Ross), who had done honest work throughout. He congratulated the Board members on now having premises that would serve the requirements of the business for some years to come. Mr Sutherland, supplementing the chairman’s remarks, said a good deal of credit was due to the architect and the Board’s manager for their part in the designing of the building. The secretary-manager said he could say that business would be considerably facilitated in the new building. The staff had been working under disabilities for a considerable time, and all members of the staff were delighted with the changed conditions. They would be gratified to learn that the Board also the new building.
