Sir, —Will you he good enough to explain what authority you have for stating that ratepayers who have notpaid their Borough rates will he unable to record their votes at the forthcoming poll re rating upon the unimproved value instead of the capital' value?—l am, etc., • • • : L. J. HOOPER. ■«. ■ [We referred the letter to the returning officer for the poll (MrD. Bockett, but he had no statement to make on the point. For our % part, the previous paragraph was the outcome of a decision of the Bordugh Council three weeks ago to only allow ratepayers to vote whose Pates due to March 31st, 1926, are paid. If any ratepayer has any doubt dii that ruling probably his best course would be to obtain £ legal opinion, or else apply on polling day to the returning officer for the issue of voting papers.—Ed.
