GOOD PRICES AT 'PALMERSTON. -Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report having .held, in -conjunction wiith Mhissrs Abraham and Williams, a very successful sale of pedigree Jersley bulls and yearling heifers at the Palmerston Nojrith 'show ground's on the 21st instant. The -cattle, wlhiich were of exceptional quality, were widely distributed The offering -comprised 40 yearling heife'r lS 'and 36 bulls. A special consignment -came forward (from Itbe Tlorowh|e:nua Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Club, arid) the -balance of the catalogue was made up of 'selected entries from iM-anawatu hreedlsir-s. Waikato 'buyers operated freely, and secured good cattle, while many other outstanding animals were lS ecured| toy buyers from Noqth Auckland, the Main Trunk districts, Wanganui, Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Nelson, and Marlborough. Local competition wats also keen. The top-priced heifer 'was secured for export to 'New South Wales. Included in the offering was the compijelto crop of sixteen yearling heifers on account of Mr (R. H. Horn, or Olh-au. These -heifelrs made the great average price of £7O 16s; 32 heifers aVeraged £45 11s, and '2B bulls averaged £32. A show was held in conjunction with (the sale!, (the jridge being the well'known Waikato breeder, Mr T. Church. In this class Mr R. L. Horn secured first, second, and third prizes. Mr R. Evans, of 'Ohau, wias placed with a very niqei heifer. iMr J. -H. Mungavin, oif Ohau, provided the winner of the (two-year-oUd hull class; second prize wen|t to Mrs -A. -Banks and 'Son, of Kiwiltea; and the third award to Mr J. iA. Mitchell, of Longburn. The yearling Hull Class was also a strong one, and 'in this Mr Church placied a very classy son of Miss Ivy, 0.0. m. 727 lbs of fat, at -the lU'adi This bull was owned by Mr J. 'Smith', junr., of Bunnytihorpe. 'Second prize was won by Mr -Alan Horn, of O'hau, and third prize went to Mr R. L. -Horn, junr., of Ohau.
