REPORTS

The monthly reports on works progress, presented to Friday's meeting of tta Te Awamujtu Electric Power Boar* .'by .the inspector (Mr A. J. Tailby) ancKthe works (foreman (Mr E. Bryant), were as follow: — INSPECTOR'S REPORT.

•During the period since laslt meeting I have Inspected and 'tested tine following installations and extensions: Four cow plants. 11 lighting plants, 3 water pump motors, and 3 electric stoves; li'otal for month, 21; this makes a total to date of 1169 lighting plants, 399 cow plaints, 53 other .powyer plants, 6'5 water pump motors, and 60 electric stoves, the grand total 1 to dajte being 1746. I have also tested and linspected extensions on 6 lighting plants, (representing 14 lighjts, and 3 heating installations, the total.number of extensions, to da* toeing 432. 'I have inspected and connectedi 2 large grillers, making the total number of large grillers installed to- date 167. Eight water heaters have blsen inspected and connected, giving a .total number of 313 water heaters Installed to date. Specifications have been made out for 2 hojusles, 4 cow .plants, 3 pump motors, 1 stove, and 4 water heaters, and I have completefl specifications fo)r the Te' A'wamutu Efeoiric Power Board's new office buildings. Ten lighting plants, 6 cow plants, 1 water pump, 3 electric stoves, and 3 water h/eajters have been re-inspected. II have tested and installed! 30 meters, changed 3 meters, repaired 1 meter, re-connecte'd 1 heat meter, dis-conneeted 6 .heat meters, and ajttnded to 5 consumers' faults. I have made out certificates for 3 houselighting .plants and 6 cow plants, made' up the fire underwriters'- returns for 'September, notified contractors of installation faults, and dis-connected an installation that had been interfered 'with by an unauthorised person and re-connected it again after an authorised coritlracjtor had alttended to and put the installation in order. 'FOREMAN'S REPORT. Bad weather has 'been experienced during the month, and has 'been responsible for some trouble. Thirtyfive chains o'f low-tension wdre erected on Dhie Hamilton Road near Taylor's Hill; It wo chains of single-phase low-tens'ion and five chains of three-phaste low-tension were 'erected in 'the borough. The low-ten-sion on Jacobson Road, Kihikihi, was changed from No. 12 to 'No. 10, and an extension of 18 chains of 3-phase was made to pick imp three new services. Fifteen chains of 2-phase were erected at Te Rbre, to make a 3-phaste supply for a motor service and pump. Two telephone earth guards were erected on the Pirongia dircuilc, one on the Te Malwliai circuit ,and one on the Hairini circuit. Some lines in the borough have 'been re-balanced, and; Mutu Street circuit from Alexandra Street to College Street has 'been changd from thje town circuit transformer on lo transformer No. 77. Further rebalancing in the borough will be carried out during the coming month, due to an out-of-balance on the phases at the main sub-station transformer. A two-pole .transformer structure has been erected in Bjrady Sitree|t, and the transformer will be erected at an early date. Thi s transformer was necessary owing to new consumers coming on the line, and a number of ranges which have been ..recently installed. Eight transformer fuses, five sub-cir-cuit ifuses, and four consumers' fus'es were renewed, and three oircu'it-break-ers were replaced. A low-tension wire at Ohaupo Itownship was reported to 'be broken,'caused by a motor car .running into the ; pole. .Danger notices have bteen attached to poles throughout the area. Twenty-six poles were erected, as follow: In thle borough, 4 .2 ! 4-foo;t poles, 2 26-fock, and 3 30-foot; a,t Kihikihi, 1 30-foot; at Korak'onui. 8 '24-foot; at Pukeatua. 3 30-'foot; at Hairin'i, 2 26-foot and 1 '3O-.foot; at Pa'terangi, 1 30-foot; at O'haupo. 2 24-foo|t; (total poles erected. 14 24-fOot, 3 26-toot, and 9 30-foot. Transformer No. 143 at Pf:Jkeatua has been shifted to a njew.position on account of ne"w load coming tin the limes. Eighteen samples of : oil werls) taken from transformers, and this 'work will be con,-, tinned as soon as the weather ini- f Permanent records of consumers connected jto each transformlsir are about completed. Te SMawhai 3000*-' Volt circuit was patrolled during the, early- part of the month on account of the circuit-breaker tripping out about the samia 'time on three consecutive nights; no trouble would be found on the night of the patrol, 'but several of the pole g in a paddock off Parlane's Roa'di bore evidence of cattle rubbing on them; bartfed wire was attached to these poles, and no trouble has. beteoa experienced since Ithen on Te Mawhai circuit. The Pua'hue, Paiferangi, and Ohaupo lines havte been patrolled owing to the breakers tripping. A black swan and a hawk, which were foiu.nd deadi under the lines, wleire responsible for two of the breaklerls tripping, but no reason could be traced for the : other stoppages. Four street lamps at Kihikihii and two at Ohaupo w'sre replaced. Ten singlle-phase lighting services, seven 3-phase and neutral motor services, two 3-phase and neutral range and lighting servicfes, and two isinglle-phase pump motor services were erected during the month. Two existing .services iwerta altered. Three consumers' faults were repaired and two services werle attended to during the month. Thle, /transport hag run approximately 2603 miles during the month. The brakes on No. 3 truck were renewed. During the month one service was re-eonnlsicted and four.services disconnected. A separate report has been prepared ire alteration to lines.
