The close of the season was celebrated by lilhie Maihiihi Golf Club on Friday evening last biy a masquerade arid fancy dress ball. Therte was a lairge num'belr present including visitors (from (Hamilton, Otorohanga, Obe'wa and Ngahape. The hall 1 ., which has lately been enlarged by the addition, of a ladies' dressing room and a supper room, was ■vtery tastefully decorated with cabbage trees and ifarn fronds, intertwined wilth iwhtich were gjol'f clubs and caddie frags, the whole making a .pretty sporting appearance in the dancla haiU. There wteire also festoons of streamers )n the club's colours from the ceiling. A dainly supper, provided by the ladies o'f the di&tlrict, enhanced 'the enjoyment of one and all I .'. Mr A. G. Levien (club captain) wias M.C. The responsibilities! of ladies' hostess were well andf thoroughly carried out by the club captain, M/rs Bartleman. Thisi music for the dances was provided iby Mrs Worsfold (>piano) and Mr Price (cornet), extras being played biy Miss Adams' arid) Mr Fry. There were miany pretty- dresses worn by the, ladiles and as far asthe fancy clostumies wene 1 concerned the jmjdges (Mrs Henderson and Mr Selbie) found difficulty in awarding the prizes. The first prize for ladies' best Ifariey drteiss wa)s awarded to Mrs T. Levien (Eastern Lady), whilst Mr D. Bartlfemmn headed the gentlemen's division. For Ithe mlost origina 1 .' costumes Mfrs Worsfold (Flislhi Wife) gained first prize ifor ladies and Mr F. •Levien (iPitaolt) of the gentlemen.

'Tlhe other wearers of fancy costumes Were: —iMiss Fry '(Halloween); Mrs Barfleman (Gipsy); Misls Massey (Balloons); Miss Lockhar-t' (Replace the Turf); Miss Westlake (Wasp); Mrs iChilds (iKJKJK.); Mis's E. WorsifoM (Qihlsoi of H'ealrts); and Miss Hilda Worsfold (Danding Girl); Messrs Hcf.lenrake (Colonel Bogey); T. Ltavien (Steward); Stevens (OM Timer); M. C'biMis (Shandy); Dragovich (Bon Bon); Davis (Indian Chief); Holmes (Scarecrow); Russiell (Chu Chin Chow). During the evening Itfoe .club captain, Mir A. G. Levien made a short speech in wlhiich he thanked all for being present and making the affair such a ■great success, and thlis was followed by thiet presentation of the prices awarded by the ladies' clu'b captain, Mrs Bartleman.
