DEPRESSED BY INFLUENZA
MAN ATTEMPTS SUICIDE. " A well-known resident of Kihikihi, Mr Nicholas Robert Kennedy taxi proprietor, yesterday morning attempted to end his life byb cutting his throat. It appears that Kennedy had been very depressed of late, aggravated by an attack of influenza, and between 8 and.' 9 o'clock he procured a razor and attempted' to. end his troubles by drawing it across his throat. Members of his family—he is a married man with two children—discovered him, and quickly sought help. Kennedy was in a bad way, and the doctor applied, first aid and then had him conveyed to the Waikato hospital. Kennedy stood the journey fairly well bu(t his condition was regarded as very serious. The unfortunate man had been in the Te Awamutu district for about ten years, farming at N'garoma until about four years ago when he settled at Kihikihi. Much sympathy is felt in the community for the distressed wife and family for Kennedy was a decent sort whom few would have expected to attempt to commit suicide. Inquiry at the hospital this morning shows that Kennedy had a very fair night, and is as well as can be expected.
