THE TEDDY "SHIELD. CAMBRIDGE DEFEATS TE AWIAMUTU. As a curtain-raiser to the Boyce Cu match at Cambridge last Saturday Cambridge and Te Awamutu met in the first round of the schools competition for the Teddy shield* In a wellcontested game the ‘Cambridge boys won by 13 points to nil. Despite Ithe heavy nature of the ground the boys gave a good display, the home players having the better of the game all through, and they proved too good for their opponents in both departments. For the winners tries were scored by A Harris, Speight, and .Byrne, and Byrne converted 'two tries. Mr A R. Thomas had control of the game. THAMES VALLEY V. WAIKATO. Mr T. A. Cooper, sole selector for the Waikato Rugby Union, has chosen the following to represent Waikato against Thames Valley on the 31st instant at Paeroa: — Full-back, P. Quin (Waipa); threequarters, Buckingham (Hamilton), Kemp (Hamilton), Paki (Huntly); fiveeighths, Anderson (Morrinsville), Dare (Waipa); half-back, Mitchell (Hamilton); rover, R.
