IMPROVING HUNTERS
PURCHASE OF IMPORTED SIRE
It will be remembered that 'the Waikato Hunt recently, mainly through the representations of Mr Norman Banks decided to import a first-class stallion from England, with the object of improving the standard of hunters throughout the Waikato. Mr H lHassall, an 'experienced judge and well-known horse breeder, of Etawke's Bay, who i s on a visit to the Old 'Country, was commissioned to purchase such an animal while in England, and cabled! advice .has just been received from that gentleman to the effect that he has been successful in purchasing on behalf of the Waikato Hunt Club, the magnificent thoroughbred stallion "Little England," which Mr Hassall thinks, will exactly suit the purposes for which he is required. "Little England" will be shipped from England on 28th July by the Ruahine and .should reach New Zealand about .the end of August. The stallion will be stationed on the Waikato Hunt's property at Bruntwood. The Hunt is to be congratulated on this step forward, which should be of great value-' in maintaining and improving the. high standard set by the hungers in the Waikato district.
