BOROUGH COUNCIL FUNDS.
REMAND ON THEFT CHARGE. ('By Telegraph. Press Association.) Auckland, This Day. An employee of the Onehunga Bofougr Council appeared in the Onehunga Police Court yesterday, charged with stealing £4 14s, the property of the Council. In asking for a remand until July 14, Sergeant Cruickshank said other charges were pending, involving about £3OO. Accused ' asked that "his name should be suppressed, and the application was supported by the sergeant. Mr J. Laking, J.P., who was on the Bench, said that if the name were suppressed suspicion would probably fall on other borough officials. He knew accused's position and ordered the suppression of the name in the meantime. The remand was, also granted. ..■ .
Bail was allowed in two sureties of £l5O, and accused was ordered to report daily to the police.
