OHINEMURI LICENSES

FOUR APPLICATIONS'“ GRANTED

The adjourned annual meeting of the Ohinemuri Licensing Committee was resumed at paeroa to-day. Mr H. J. Salmon, IS.M., presided, and all the I members except Mr F. J. Walters were present. In connection with A. Kerr’s application for a license for the Golden Cross Hotel at Waihi, the police and Hfea'lth Departments reported that everything was in order. The license was granted. Joseph Molloy’s application, for the Kerepeehi Hotel, being approved by the police and health officers, was granted. The Paeroa Hotel was reported to be practically completed, and would bo ready for occupation by Thursday. Mr E. W. Porritt, who appeared for the applicants, asked that the license be granted as from that date. The committee adopted this course. Mr R. S. Carden, who appeared for the applicant for ‘the Waikino Hotel, explained that everything in conned-* tion with the building was completed. One or two small matters would be completed on Wednesday. He asked jthat the license be granted to operate as from Thursday.

The police and health authorities approved of the application, which was granted. Mr J. C. Dromgool, on behalf of Mrs Montgomery, who had previously applied for a license at Waitoa, asked •for permission to apply for a license at Morrinsville, in lieu of the Waitoa application. He asked that a waiver of the requirements of section 84 of the Licensing Act. to enable the applicant to advertise and otherwise comply with the Act be granted. The chairman intimated that the committee would be prepared to consider the application on its merits on August 9, provided the necessary advertising was done in the interim.
