Caugoll. for absence were granted to his Worship the Mayor (Mr L. G. .Armstrong), Or. FJH. Vile and the engineer (Mr W. D. R. MCCtirdie). Dr T. J. Hughes, medical officer of health, Auckland, advised! that the Department ot Health has lately issued (in poster form) valuable information regarding cancer and consumption for the guidance of the general public, v A number of these posters was forwarded, and the Council was asked to assist by displaying them in public places. . The Auckland solicitors for Mrs E. M. Taylor., owner of part section 99, Teasdale Settlement, submitted a subdivisional plan of the property, and that they understand Dr. Blundell’s sub-division adjoining will be submitted in due course. The instrument of dedication of the proposed road is being prepared and when it is signed by the parties it will be sent along to the Council. —Rerefrred to the Works Committee, with a request that it endeavour to expedite the completion of the dedication of both strips'of land.

A tender for grubbing and clearing the frontage of the cemetery, about twelve chains in length, was referred to the Works Committee with power to act.

The medical officer of health, Auckland, forwarded copies of regulations under the Health Act for the control of hairdressers’ shops. Te Awamutu is not on the schedule.

Permission was granted the Waipa Rugby Union to erect a grandstand on Albert Park, the engineer to approve the specifications, and the structure to remain on the site during the pleasure of the Domain Board.

An offer was received from Mr J. P. Horan, to clear the municipal pound property of noxious weeds, including gorse, blackberry, etc. He wrote: “I have kept the borough clear of -afll stray cattle, for the past five years when I was ranger. As I am , appointed now as borough poundkeeper, also Waipa County ranger, I have got into firouble keeping dairy cattle in your pound. Owners come to me and pass remarks about the said pound, so if there is any way possible of clearing same I will •be willing to do it at casual rates.’” Cr Downes referred to the street lights in the area recently ceded to ' Waipa County control, and asked what action was being taken. Either they -should be removed or compensation obtained for the Council’s' outlay.— Referred to the clerk for attention. Cr Jeffery referred to the numerous small holes 'in the main steet footpaths in various parts of the business area. They were not only an eyesore but a danger.:—The works foreman stated that these were being attended . to at present.
