REFEREE HUSTLED AND STRUCK
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day.
The soccer match between High School Old Boys and the Maori Hill team caused an unpleasant dispute owing to an accident to the Maori Hill’s goalkeeper. Another man took his place but the referee was not notified and penalised him for handling the: ball. This led. to a demonstration, in the course of which the referee was hustled and struck. The official ordered the man off who jostled him and he refused to go and the referee stopped the game. The local Association suspended the man who jostled the referee for the rest of tire season and sent a strong warning to his club.
