MOTORIST BADLY BURNED
THROUGH CLOTHING CATCHING 8 ALIGHT. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. A taxi driver, named E. Newman, employed by the Rink Taxis, Avas seriously injured yesterday morning through his clothes catching fire. He is now in 'the Christchurch Public Hospital. Newman is a married man residing at 49 ißangor Street. The accident happened at home and it is said Newman’s clothes must have had petrol on them whten he struck a match to light a cigarette and his clothes burst into flames. Before the flames could be extinguished Newman Avas burned severely about 'the hands, face and body. His condition is serious, but improved last night.
