CAR FALLS FROM BRIDGE
PLUNGE INTO DEEP WATER.

A car, owned and driven by Mr W. Tomlinson, of Buckland, plunged over the bridge on the Whangarata-Pokeno road shortly before S o’clock this morning. The occupants had a •remarkable escape from drowningl or serious injury.
Mr Tomlingson had with him his wife, hi s son-in-law, Mr M. Dunn, and a friend, Mr A. Robinson. The road was greasy and when within about a quarter of a mile of the Great (South Road the ca r skidded aftdi plunged over the bridge into about 10ft of water. The vehicle lay upon its side with the hood broken. All four occupants managed to reach the bank. Mr Tomlinson is suffering from shock and the other occupants susjtained minor cuts.
