ANOTHER SUCCESS FOR WAIPA.

THE win for Waipa in the White Horse Cup hockey tournament at Auckland this Aveek is all the more meritorious when it is remembered that ’this is the third year in succession that the little sub-association s representatives have won the coveted trophy. Tavo years ago, Avhen the Waipa Association could only muster two teams in its competition it surprised most people by sending a representative combination good enough to win outright. Last year, there were two clubs with three teams, and, again the reps. Av r ere victorious. This year there Avere four teams in the Empson Cup competition, and thie selectors thus had a wider field for selection, and keen hockey enthusiasts Avere hopeful for success. It must have been somaAvhat of a shock when the first game of the White Horse 'Cup tourney entiled in a draAv, the Franklin Hearn putting up a surprisingly good exhibition. From this on, however, the Waipa managed to retain an unbeaten certificate, the 'final game, as mentioned elsewhere in this issue, being a particularly vigorous and keen contest, their old adversaries (Rodney) giving them a gruelling game. Waipa put up a couple of goals in the first half and appear to have then played a defensive game successfully. The players and selectors, together Avith the enthusiastic officers of thie Association* are to be heartily congratulated upon the continued, success achieved.
