SOCIAL AT TE MAWKAI
POiPULAR YOUNG LADY PA REWELLED. About ninety residents of Te Mawhai district and friends assembled at the school last Friday evening to bid farewell to Miss Joyce Wilson, who i s leaving Te Mawhai to take up a course at the Elam School of Arts, Auckland, with a view to future studio work. The evening was spent in dancing. splendid music for which was supplied by the Misses Edna Ramsay and A. Oates. Enjoyable social items were contributed by. Miss E. Oates, Miss E. Jones, and Mr J. Wilde. During the evening Mr F. C. Daniell, on behalf of her many friends, wished Miss Wilson all good luck and success in her chosen work, and presented her with a very 'fine solid leather attache cas= and a beautiful hair-brush. The singing of “'She’s a Jolly Good, Fellow ’’ accompanied the handing over of the gifts, the happy recipient replying in a graceful speech, expressing heartfelt thanks for the good wishes of the community in her future welfare. Dancing wa s then resumed, and kept up merrily until about 1.30 a.m. when the National Anthem concluded proceedings.
