iThe engagement is announced of Mona Kathleen Marie, elder daughter of Mrs and the late Rev. F. W. Clarke, of Te Awamutu, to Lawrence MacGregor, sen of Mr and Mrs W. Jobson, of H'awera. A young man who had taken out a voluntary prohibition order (but had not been served with the document) went into a Kihikihi hotel and had a glass of beer on a very hot day recently, after putting in several hours harvesting work in a dusty paddock. He was haled before Mr W. F. Platts, S.M., at the local Court this moirning to answer two charges of fracturing the terms of his order. He was convicted and discharged [for entering a hotel, and fined £2 for procuring liquor. Amusement "was caused at the meeting of Stirling Dairy Factory'Company shareholders recently (states the Free Press, tClutba), when the question of proxy voting wa9 being discussed. Mr G. Harvey said it did not matter at all who were directors after this year, as the Dairy Control Board would do all the directing required. All they would have to do would be to look after the pigs and get a little timber for firewood. The Stirling suppliers did not view -with favour the proposed rule of the Dairy Control Board.
