GERMAN BUTTER MARKET

The "Smor Tidende" a Danish butter paper, under date of 4 September, 1925, reports as follows:—"Again this week we had rather large orders from Germany, though the German markets are reported quiet and dragging. It appears that the quality of much of the German butter is at present more or less unsatisfactory, while at the same time the production is dwindling down week by week. Hence the increasing demand for the Danish article.—Also from Britain a few shillings advance was obtained, and the limited supplies wer cleared out. A small reaction in the exchange currencies took place during the week, bettering values a shade more, so the official quotation was advanced 15 Kr. The present raw and cold weather will probably have the effect of reducing production in this country, but most foreign markets seem to be in a dragging condition and unwilling to respond to advancing prices.
