INFLUENZA INFECTION
A theory that influenza is contracted the eyes is put forward by Surgeon Commar.der L. Lindop, R.N., in the British Medical Journal. He advocates the use of motor goggles when traveling in crowded trains and omnibuses, suggesting that the germs thrown into the air bv the cough of an iufected person immediately attack people sitting near through the eyes. "An ordinary pair of horn spectacles," writes Commander Linden, "* uld be better than nothing, but tho; would not cut off the lateral splash when an infected person coughs, and the rick of infection would be diminished if travellers could be persuaded to wear well-fit-ting motor goggles."
