TE MAWHAI SCHOOL PROVES TOO'
SMALL.
A deputation from Te Mawhai waited upon Mr F. Lye, M.P.,\ at the opening of the Kakepuku school additions last Wednesday evening, and was introduced by Mr D. G. Cruickshank. The deputation urged the need for further accommodation at Te Mawhai school to relieve the present overcrowding, which promises to be come even more acute as time progresses. The difficulties of the teaching staff in imparting instruction im the one room, were^stressed. Another matter asked for was the provision of a teacher’s residence. This lack was not felt so much during Mrs Wilson’s term as head teacher but since Mr C. L. Ghing had taken up his duties the difficulty had become attentuated. Mr Ching is a married man with a family, and provision has only been made for two months for the accommodation of himself and family. This fact makes administration very difficult for the committee and the head master.
.The deputation received a sympathetic hearing from Mr Lye, who promised that he would do everything in his power possible to help the Te Mawhai people out of their difficulties.
