WORLD’S BEST BUTTER

BIG COMPETITION AT AUCKLAND.

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Friday.

The competition promoted by the Auckland A. and P. Association and the Auckland Industrial Association to create a world’s championship in butter quality 'bids fair to be «a success, and at this competition at the ■forthcoming Auckland winter exhibition the New Zealand butter-makers will have their supremacy challenged by competitors from eDnmark, America, and Australia. Prize money to total £IOO, with a first prize of £SO. is offered, but this is expectel to be a minor consideration in the effort to be made by the several countries to be able to come on the markets supported with a medal entitling t.iem to announce that they are the world s champions. Itis general knowledge that Denmark holds the upper hand in the British market by old associations, and that New Zealand has been winning its way to the top, while both Aeni’ca and Australia have been making very strong efforts to surpass both New Zealand and Denmark. Consequently this competition has been recognised as a golden opportunity to secure a valuable advertisement in Great Britain. This may be seen from the fact that already twenty entries have been received from Australia and three from the central American States of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and lowa, and one from Fiji. An entry has already come from Denmark, and advice has been received of another from Esthonia, while entries are expected from Canada before 20th July, the closing date for entries. It consequently behoves the New Zealand butter-makers who are making a bid for the championship to be on their mettle in order that this very valuable title may not go outside the Dominion.
