THE GAME AND ITS PLAYERS. (By “ Off-side.”) There .are some football players who appear to have very thin skins when their actions are criticised. One man whom “ Off-side ” had occasion to advise appears to have taken it very differently from what was intended, for he was not a member of the local representative team last Saturday, although selected. Of course, there may have been another —and much more creditable-reason. Other players who came under review by “ Off-side ” accepted the advice tendered, and are Dying to improve their play. That’s the spirit that should always be associated with Rugby. Jackson, the youthful full-back for the Waipa junior representatives, let his side down with a thud on more than one occasion last Saturday. Maybe it was stage fright, for he has played much better games here in Te Awamutu. Mick Finch had bad luck last Saturday at Hamilton in getting his nose broken as the result of a melee towards the end of the junior representative game The Waipa junior captain will have to watch the game from the side-line for .a while, but he is still keen to don the jersey. Gus Tickelpenny should study the art of parsing. At Hamilton on Saturday he sent his three-quarter line some very awkward ones, and it was not their fault that the passes were not accepted. Johnson, junior, is another whose passing leaves a lot to be desired. When collared he seems to heave the hall away, without any regard to who may he supporting him. Hamilton’s best junior back this year may be hard to find just at present, but young Buckingham must be a probable' On Saturday he put in some very clever and useful work against the Waipa juniors. The Waipa junior representatives at Hamilton last Saturday witnessed the Franklin-Hamilton senior representative game, and enjoyed it thoroughly. At half time it seemed that Hamilton would win comfortably by a big margin but the men from ’* Massey - land ” rallied and soon equalised the scores by bright football. Howevei, a try and a penalty goal in. the final spell gave Hamilton a win, by six points. ___________
