BURGLARY IN AUCKLAND.
£2OO WORTH OF SILK STOCKINGS STOLEN. AUCKLAND, Monday. During the week end, when the warehouse of Messrs Archibald Clark, Ltd., was closed, burglars entered the premises and removed about £2OO worth of goods. It is stated that access was gained to a portion of the main buildingthrough a window in a lean to at the rear. The intruders apparently confined their unwelcome attention to the hosiery department. First obtaining four large suit cases, part of the firm’s stock, they proceeded to select an assortment of silk stockings. It is stated that some discrimination was used by the thieves, who took only superior quality hose, and. it is thought, packed dozens of pairs into the suit cases, afterwards leaving the premises by the rear window. This gives the police vet another case to follow up, since there have been several daring burglaries perpetrated in Auckland shops and warehouses during the last few weeks, in • eluding the premises of Messrs Hugh Wright, Ltd., where goods to the value of £2OO were taken, and Messrs Geo. Fowlds, Ltd., where the intruders obtained only a small sum in cash.
