Major .1. G. McKnight, an army surgeon. bus found Mint Hie typhoid germ in pure culture becomes greatly diminished in numbers by an exposure of four hours lo tea. After twenty hours is was impossible to recover ii at all from cold tea. He recommends Hie use of cold tea, as a substitute for water in soldiers’ canteens during active service. .Major Me Nan ght suggested some time since that everybody should drink Lea. If prepared in Hie proper manner. tea. according to physicians, const iiut.es a. refreshing and not harmful beverage, for ii is the tannin and oiher extractives which are withdrawn, and only after continued sleeping, that are productive of harmful consequences. Boiled tea gives a coppery coal to the stomach, and a saffron hue to the face.
