SEQUEL 'TO A WAGER.
The subject mutter of bets has of- 1 ten taken a somewhat grim form. A ; story is related of a party of revel- j 'lers, one of whom undertook, in >- | spirit of bravado, to enter the vault | of a church at midnight, and as proof j stick a fork into one of a coffins there. J Pie accomplished bis object, says the j Glasgow Herald, and was about to re- j turn triumphantly to claim the be'., j when he felt himself suddenly caught, and was so overcome by terror that j lie tainted. In -this condition lie was found shortly afterwards by his companions. who alarmed at his long absence, came to look for him. The fork which he had stuck into the coffin had also been stuck through his cloak and thus occasioned a fit of terror that nearly proved fatal.
