GELIGNITE EXPLOSION.
SEVERAL MEN INJURED. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. A premature explosion of gelignite occurred on the Miller's Flat extension of fie Beaumont railway. One man, Frank Freeman, aged 44, was brought to the Dunedin hospital to-night suffering from injuries to the face and one hand. It is understood that two or three others were taken to the hospital at Lawrence. DUNEDIN. Wednesday. The other men injured in the blastins exn'osion at Beaumont were Scoles. Wade and Ganger Dickson. The latter had to be dug out from fallen rick. His injuries consist of a dislocated hip and a fractured ankle The accident occurred at a second blast, the rock evidently retaining sufficient heat from the first explosion to prematurely ignite the second. It was only necessary to bring Freeman to Dunedin. The others art accommodated at Lawrence hospital.
