A STREET COLLECTION.

FOB HOSPITAL PATIENTS’ SUNSHINE LEAGUE. ■ ON THURSDAY NEXT. There are always in a community a number of men and women who give freely to any deserving object; there are others, again, who give to such objects if they are asked to; and there are, unfortunately, some who will not contribute, however well endowed in this world’s goods they happen to be. Of course, there are some people who absolutely cannot give, no matter how touched the heart is to a realisation of the deserving cause. On Thursday next those people will not be asked to contribute in cash, but if they will display a kindly interest in the street collection that is to be undertaken in Te Awamutu on Thursday (29th instant) on behalf of the Hospital Patients’ Sunshine League they will certainly be helping the executive in a very worthy endeavour. The Sunshine League is a voluntary Organisation whose sole objective is to help brighten the lives of the sick men, women, ana children in kato Hospital. The League has been instrumental, in a multitude of ways, in providing cheer and comfort to the suffering patients. We fell sure that the good folk of Te Awamutu will welcome the opportunity of helping the Sunshine League in its work among the two hundred patients at the hospital. It is proposed, according to advice from the League secretary, to send a few of the hospital nurses in uniform to Te Awamutu on Thursday morning, when a street collecting campaign will be carried out. The object is a worthy one, as expatients at the hospital will aver, and it is scarcely likely that any resident of Te Awamutu is so bereft of the humane spirit as to decline to contribute.
