EXHIBITION AT DUNEDIN.

PROPOSED FOR J 025. (By Telegraph. —■ Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. A deputation approached the Manufacturers' Association to-day with the request that the proposed 1925 Exhibit ion should he international instead of Imperial. The Mayor (Air Douglas) stilled that as a result of interviews locally strong feeling had arisen that '•they should change the nature of the exhibition from Imperial to International. The provisional committee felt that it could not do that without the approval of manufacturers' associations throughout the Dominion, and decided to approach the local association with a view to ascertaining its views before approaching other associations. It. was felt, that in regard to arts, music, sports tint! other matters it was necessary to go further afield iban the Empire. Air Frostick (Christchurch), who was present, stated that he was not authorised to speak on behalf of the Christchurch association, but believed its views were unanimously held by northern cities. Air Douglas and other members had asked the associations to depart from a settled policy by holding exhibitions in each of the four centres. One of the first questions raised had been whether the Dunedin exhibition was to be Imperial or international. The answer was given most emphatically that it be Imperial. Had the question of an international exhibition been raised he felt sure the request would have been refused. If an Imperial exhibition were held in Dunedin he believed it would be assisted by Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. But if they made it international'they should not be surprised if the great bulk of manufacturers turned them down. The chairman stated that the matter would he placed before the affiliated associations.
