POLO TOURNAMENT.
TltO VIN DIAL ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL FIXTURE. AT HAMILTON IN EASTER WEEK. A meeting of delegates from all the clubs affiliated to tlie Auckland Provincial Polo Association was held in Hamilton on Thursday evening, when the chief business dealt with was the forthcoming annual tournament which commences at Hamilton racecourse on Tuesday, April 3rd, and will be continued on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, concluding with the annual polo sports meeting on the Saturday. Following is the draw for the first round of the Junior Cup competition on Tuesday:— Te Awamutu B v. Hamilton B at 11 a.m.; Cambridge B a bye. The first round of the Championship Cup contest also takes place on Tuesday, when two games will he played, viz., Cambridge A v. Hamilton A, at 1 p.m. and Te Awamutu A v. Waihou at 3 p.m.
Following are the handicaps for the Handicap Cup:—Te Awamutu A scratch; Waihou, 1 goal; Cambridge A, 1 goal; Hamilton A, 3 goals; Te Awamutu B, 6 goals; Hamilton B, 7 goals; Cambridge B, 8 goals. The draw for this competition is: Te Awamutu B (6) v. Cambridge A (1); Waihou (1) v. Cambridge B (8); To Awamutu A (scratch) v. Hamilton A (3); Hamilton B (7) a bye. We will publish the personnel of the various teams in our next issue. It will be remembered that last year the Te Awamutu players won the three competitions, the A team winning the championship, and the B team Doth the Junior and Handicap Cups. Hence, Te Awamutu supporters of the club and the game of polo have an added interest in this year’s tournament, and it is anticipated that many people from here will make a point of witnessing the play at the tourney, while the polo sports on the Saturday should attract a very large crowd.
