A NOTED SPY'S LOVER.
That the last Ipver of Mata Hari, the beautiful dancer and spy for the Germans, who met her death from a firing party at Viencennes, near Paris, is now living , as a Carthusian monk in a monastery at v,artuja de Miraflores, in Spain, is alleged by a writer in Mercure de France. Mata Hari, whose rea4 name was Marguerite Gertrude Zell, was a daughter of a Dutch planter in Java and of a Javanese woman. In Paris she met her last lover—then at the height of social brilliance. "When her intrigues were revealed during the war, and she was sentenced to death, he did everything possible to save her from execution. A week after her death her lover disappeared, and it is only now that he has been traced to the monastery. The superior scoffs at the idea that such a man is a member of his order, but his name is neither asked nor revealed,.and he is lost to the world.
