“ LOVE’S MASQUERADE.’

Selznick Pictures have engaged Winifred Westover to play leads in several forthcoming of this company, and she appears opposite Conway Tearle in his latest Selznick Picture “Love’s Masquerade,” which comes to the Empire theatre next Tuesday. Miss Westovei is one of the most beautiful women of the screen, being a petite blonde type that makes such an excellent opposite for the tall dark star.

On Wednesday the Stoll picture from Ethel M. Dell’s striking story, “The Hundredth Chance,” will be screened. There 'are some splendid sea pictures in the film, there are some exquisite night scenes —the fibst night stcene's to be taken at night in this country—'there is a great horse race, 'and, heedless to say there is all the strong drama in the unfolding of the plot which one associates with Ethel M.. DelTst work, and which has made her books the “ best-sellers” in the kingdom.

TO CANNIBAL LAND

On Friday the public of Te Awamutu will be favoured with a visit from a wonderful travelogue film entitled, “Ten Thousand Miles in the iSteam Yacht Southern Cross.” The picture abounds in scenes of headhunters in their natiye environment, and the many wierd dances and customs make excellent material for the camera, and the photographer has lost no chances in getting unique and interesting matter. The artificial islands are in themselves a wonderful sight, where the coral isles are built out to sea to protect the .salt-water people from the depredations of their natural foes, the headhunters of 'Malaita, the place of Jack 'London fame, Santa Cruz, Malekula, the Beefs, the Banks. Florida, Ysabel, and other islands in the Solomans. 'No one should miss tis opportunity of seeing a picture unique and wonderful. A special matinee for the school children has been arranged to take place at 2.30 p.m.
