SALE AT CLAUDELANDS
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company reports as' follows: At our Claudelands stock sale held on Thursday we had a good entry of sheep and cattle and rather a smaller .yarding of fat pigs. Among the beef were a number of prime fat cows and heifers, which created good competition. The mutton also sold well. The dairy cows, mostly of poor quality, were dull of sale, while on the other hand good well-grown heifers close to profit were, quite the contrary. All young cattle, as well as store pigs sold freely. We quote: 'Medium fat. wethers 255. smaller fat wethers 22s 9d, fat ewes 20s 3d, hoggets 16s to 18s 2d, ewes in lamlb 245. small 'lots of ewes with lambs at foot 25s to 255, small fat steers £4 10s to £5 10s and £6, prime fat cows and heifers £4 10s to £6 ISs, lighter 3 to £4 15s, forward cows £1 10s to £2 10s, other cows 15s to 28s, yearling heifers £1 10s to £2 15s for a pen of Holsteins), Jersey cross yearlings 3 15s, 20-month empty heifers £2 15s to £3 9s, 3-year Shorthorn heifers (close up) £-10 to £l2 15s, Jersey psringers to 12 15s, more backward heifers £4 10s to £B, medium bacon pigs £2 16s, porkers £2. slips 18s to 255. weaners 12s to 17s', sows In pig £2 to £4.
