SECONDARY SCHOOLS.
CONFERENCE DISCUSSIONS. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This (Day. At the secondary schools' conference Mr F. M. Renner asked what precautions Were being taken against fraud. He had heard of a teacher who was offered £2O to sit at Christchurch for examination under the name of a candidate who had been unsuccessful. Mr Renner also contended that the examiners had far too little time to do justice to the candidates, as they had about a thousand papers to go through in three weeks.
The conference discussed the question Of mispronunciation and springing up of a dialect in New Zealand, and passed a resolution calling attention of all educational authorities to the matter, with a request to take effective action.
