TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
TE AWAMUTU ADVISORY COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Te Awamutu Advisory Committee on technical education was heid last night, when there were present: Messrs C. F. Battson (chairman), W. T. Brabyn, C. W. Rickit, and P. Schv/abe. An apology was received from Mr W. Jeffery. The chairman reported attending the opening of the first class, that of book-keeping, of which Mr Foster \vas instructor. It was reported that the Otorohanga County Council had notified that they had not yet appointed a representative, but that they would do so at their next meeting. The matter of an official opening of the school was discussed, it being decided, on the motion of Mr Rickit, seconded by Mr Brabyn, that this event take place before any lectures are held; the secretary meanwhile to write Mr Kalaugher, the supervisor, asking him to arrange a suitable date. It was decided that the first lecture be on "Electricity in the Home," by Mr E. Bickerstaffe, on a date in June to be arranged. The second lecture by Mr Hesse will be given in July. The secretary was empowered to call the next meeting of the committee after hearing from the supervisor of the exact date of the official opening.
Mr Brabyn was appointed visiting member for the month.
