CHRISTMAS SERVICES.
ANGLICAN CHURCH. At St. John's- the 8 o'clock celebration of holy communion was conducted by Mr Spencer, and the 11 o'clock service by Archdeacon Cowie, of Hamilton. At the evening service, conducted by Mr Spencer, carols were sung, and Christmas hymns were used. There was a good attendance at the Kihikihi Anglican Church for the Christmas 1 services, which everyone endeavoured to make bright and successful. The Kihikihi Band assisted in the Christmas carol serv.'ce, and Mrs Parry sang "The Star of Bethlehem." Mr L. Ives conducted the service, and much 'appreciated the concerted endeavour to make it a success. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. The Christmas services at the Presbyterian Church were held the Sunday previous to Christmas, and on Christmas Day the choir was at Kihikihi. The sermons preached on Christmas Day by the Rev. F. A. Thompson were on "The Wise Man's Gifts," in the morning, and "The Angels Announcement of the First Advent," in the evening.
The Christmas Carol Service at the Kihikihi Presbyterian Church was largely attended, and the bright singing of the.Te Awammtu choir under the baton of Mr W.- T. Brabyn was greatly appreciated. The >solo parts were effectively taken by Mrs Andrews, Mrs 1 Mathews, Mrs Wilson, Miss Andrews, Miss McFlinn and Mr Wilson. Mrs Gibson presided at the organ, and a retiring collection for the Auckland Orphanages was heart"ily're'sponded to. METHODIST CHURCH At the Methodist Church, Rev. S. Henderson preached an appropriate sermon to a large congregation. The sing ng was very hearty, and the choir excelled itself in several well-con-certed anthems.. Solos were flung by Mesdames Coleman and Deed, and Misses G. Raine and Mr Aked, and a duet was l sung by Mrs Coleman and Miss Smith. After the service a full musical programme of carols and Christmas hymns' was sung. Miss Henderson presided at the organ.
