One hears often that criminals reform. In the Supreme Court, Wellington.underneath the big courtroom, are the "dungeons," as they are popularly known, where the "trial men" wait for the verdict of the jury. On the wall of one of the cells, boldly written in pencil, is to be seen the expressive sentence: "Never no more." Just below it is written, evidently in ffie same hand. "Not guilty, hooray." The sentences were written evidently one before the retirement of the jury, and one after it had returned with its verdict.
