TE AWAMUTU v. PIRONGIA.

In 'this junior match, played at Pirongia on Saturday, the visitors looked a hefty and start team (writes our correspondent) as they took their places on the field against the locals, and it was lock of combination that lost them the game. Practically from the start the locals were on the ball, and in a good passing rush Joe Turner scored a try and kicked a goal. Pirongia 5 Te Awamutu 0 The visitors were again aggressive but lost many chances by the threequarter line being too close to the forwards. The visitors got the ball most times from the scrums but could not pass well. After half time Munro for the locals intercepted a pass and beating a really good full back in Langmuir, scored between the posts. J. Turner kicked a nice goal. Pirongia 10 s Te Awamutu J 0 The vistors went in to make things merry and the locals ha'd to force. Some good really good scrums followed, with the visitors getting the ball but the locals were on to them ai once and prevented any runs. In the last quarter some good line outs were seen, with Teddy and Fleming prominent for the visitors. Good kicking by the locals' fullback sent the ball near the goal line, and in loose play the visitors overran the ball and Joe Turner scored smartly. Mr Gage was referee. Although the locals had the best of the game it was good to watch, and there should be some good seniors next year. For the visitors Langmuir was very safe at full back. For the locals the Turners and Archer in the forwards were prominent and J. McCarthy behind the scrum was pretty to watch, while W. McCarthy , and Munro (three-quarters) and F. Beet at full back were always" ready. Mr McDonald, of Te Awamutu, was favourably impressed by the play, and said that a great junior representative team will be seen at the end of the season.
