SUB-STATION SITE.
TE AWAMUTU POWER SCHEME. GOVERNMENT ACQUIRES PROPERTY. A proclamation is issued by the Minister til Public Works in last week's Gazette taking land for the purpose of a sub-station site in the borough of Te Awamutu. The land, which has an area of over, an acre, is situated at the corner of Tawhaio and' Mangapiko Streets. It forms a part of the cemetery reserve which is vested in the Te Awamutu Borough Council. The Council placed the site at the disposal of the Public Works Department some time ago. The taking of the land is further evidence that the, Department will shortly complete the main reticulation lines from Hora Hora. The power for the Te Awamutu ' district will be delivered by the Department to a sub-station to be erected on this site ,and from here the power will be reticulated by the Board to the various localities. ;
It is predicted that the, power will become available in Te Awamutu by the end of July, or in August a"t latest.
