Sporting events illustrated in this week's ' sue of the Sporting and Dramatic Review are the Avondale Jockey Club's Easter meeting, the Canterbury Jockey Club's Carnival, the Waimate Plains Trotting Club's meeting at Hawera and the Feilding Jockey Club's fixture. Beautiful scenery is depicted in views of Davos the famous Swiss holiday resort, and sculling on the river Thames is also the subject of fine photographs. The appointment of a sole selector for the Te Awamutu Football Club, thus coming into line with Hamilton and Auckland, was narroAvly averted last evening. On a motion to do so being carried, Mr Edwards and Mr McDonald promptly jumped to their feet, each proposing the other in what was described as "a "dead heat." Each proposal was promptly seconded, tmt, in spite of a considerable amount of coaxing, each of the principals declined the responsibility,, while the seconders refused to consent to the withdrawal of the motions. The difficulty was overcome to everyone's satisfaction by appointing both Mr Edwards and Mr McDonald as joint .selectors.
