MOTORS ON THE FARM.
POWER BOARD REQUIREMENTS ° SIZE AND STYLE. The engineers of the Te Awamutu Power Board have recommended the following motors for farm use. The motors should be 2 h.p. 3 phase, 400 volt 50 cycle, 1500 r.p.m,, synchronous speed, squirrel cage type. They should be complete with "pulley and slide rails. The temperature rise should not exceed 40 degrees C, when operating continuously with a 2 h.p. load, the above temperature being above the ambient temperature of 35 degrees C. The castings should be sound and free from blow holes and should be well rubbed down and filed. Makers should state the size of shaft, also the method of short circuiting the rotor bars. The frame should be of the ventilated type.
