WHOLESALE AND RETAIL. il GAZETTED YESTERDAY. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. An Order-in-Council, issued to-day, confirms the recommendations of the Butter Prices Committee, and fixes the scale of for the sale of butter as follows:—Maximum in boxes, in bulk, 1/111 per lbs, ex-fac-tory door; maximum price retail, 2/3 lb. cash over counter, 2/5 booked. These maximum prices do not apply to butter manufactured prior to August 1, 1920. The new prices operate from October 19. BUTTER MAKERS DISSATISFIED. IMPERIAL OFFER REJECTED. HAMILTON, Monday. Dairy companies of the Auckland province have definitely decided not to accept the offer of the Imperial Government for the purchase of New Zealand dairy produce unless marketing facilities equal to those granted the producers .of Great Britain and Ireland are granted to New Zealand producers after March 31 next. This decision was comb to at a representative meeting of directors of dairy companies in the province, held in Auckland a couple of days ago, and carried by a substantial majority. Subsequently a meeting of the South Auckland Dairy Association was held, when a resolution was carried providing definitely fbr termination of further negotiations with the Food Controller after the 22nd inst. As the Auckland province produces twothirds of the total butter of New Zaeland the decision is an important one, as it means that the price offered by the Imperial Government, upon which the proposed new price in New Zealand is also based, may not yet be accepted.
