TEACHERS’ AIMS.
AUCKLAND INSTITUTE CONFERS. SEPARATE ASSOCIATION FORMED. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. At an unusually well-attended meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Teachers’ Institute held yesterday there was a live discussion on the question of forming an association separate from the Institute, so that Auckland’s particular and peculiar needs should not be sacrificed to the wishes of the rest of the Dominion. The matter was raised by Mr A. J. C. Halls in a notice of motion “ that in the opinion of this meeting it is advisable for the Auckland teachers to form an., association under clause 138 of the Education Act of 1914.” A vote was taken, and the meeting signified its approval by a large ma- , jority, only nineteen members being opposed to it. A committee was .appointed to make arrangements for the formation of the proposed association.
