THE ONE SOLUTION.
At. the invitation of the Matamata Chamber of Commerce, Captain H. D. Dansey and Captain R. Worley addressed a large and representative meeting at Matamata recently, Mr Buchanan (president of the Chamber of Commerce) occupied the chair. After hearing the addresses by the engineers, the meeting unanimously decided that light railways were the only thing to solve the transport pro'blem of the Matamata county. A Light Railway League was formed, with Mr Price as president, and Mr E. G. Clark was elected secretary. It was resolved to urge the Government to amend the legislation to admit of the construction of two-foot gauge light railways. A resolution was also passed expressing indignation at the attitude of Sir W. H. Herries towards light railways. The Morrinsville Light Railway League met, the light railway engineers (Captain H. D. Dansey and Captain It. Worley) and instructed them to proceed without delay with a flying survey of a route to Tahuna.
