MEETING OE TE AWAMUTU COM-

MITTEE.

A meeting of the Te Awamutii committee of the Discharged Soldiers’ Information Department took place on Wednesday evening. Rev. l>. J. Shaw presided and there, were also present Messrs M. C. Lawson, B. McGechie, E. Clifton, S. H. Divern, and L. G. Armstrong (secretary). A great deal of outward correspondence was read and approved. The department wrote asking that the committee give regular information regarding any positions which may he opened for returned soldiers so that the lists could be kept carefully revised and full opportunity provided for bringing the employer and the soldier applicant for work together. The department aldo acknowledged the suggestion that 'the soldier applicants should he advised to get into touch with the secretary in the district so as to facilitate the work between the committees and She applicants. The suggestion was appreciated as showing uu interest in the duties falling on the committee, and would bo given effect to. Tlu. secretary reported that the three returned soldier applicants in this district had been found with suitable employment and he had taken immediate steps to have their names, and the names of their employers, removed from the lists at 'Wellington.— His action was approved. The desire was expressed that employers will make known to the committees their requirements as vacancies occur. It was decided to, make an olllcial announcement in the “Waiptt Post” to. this effect, and to communicate will's the Farmers’ Union, appealing to farmers to place every qiinrtimity in the way of the discharged soldier to take up work on the land.

The Dominion fists of soldier applicants and employers vacancies were considered and reviewed and those affecting this district were found to be all satisfactorily arranged for.
