THE THAMES GUARDED.
SECRET PREPARATIONS MADE. LONDON, July 16. The Thames Conservancy Board has secretly discussed the defence of the Thames. Sir Ralph Glyn has organised a home guard unit for the defence of the upper Thames. Home guards are also safeguarding important works, access to weirs and locks is being restricted and patrols are ceaselessly on guard against a flying-boat landing.
