CENTENNIAL BALL
A GREAT SUCCESS. One of the most important functions in connection with the Centennial Carnival Week, the Waipawa Centennial Ball held in the Waipawa Municipal Theatre last evening, attracted a large attendance including, despite the petrol restrictions, a large number of visitors from all parts of the district. Splendid arrangements had been completed for the function by a strong committee convened by Mr J. Holdsworth, and those who attended were treated to a fine evening’s dancing. The main hall was decorated in the patriotic colors, red, white and blue, with flags suspended around the walls, while the centre feature was attractively set in a festoon of multicolored balloons. The supper room was similarly decorated with flowers, while on the tables vases of flowers in autumn tints made an attractive setting. These arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames F. Eagle, J. Holdsworth, G. W. Spicer and B. O. Gamby. On the stage, which was attractively decorated with greenery, Lew Munro played the latest dance music, while the efficient manner in which Mr E. C. Kingston carired out the duties of M.C. was largely responsible for the enjoyment of the evening. A feature'item which was received with generous applause was a tap dance given by Miss Lita Brinson.
