CENTENNIAL CARNIVAL

JOYOUS DAY ON THE PARK TOMORROW TRADE AND NOVELTY DISPLAYS. One of the principal features of Waipawa’s Centennial Carnival Week will take place to-morrow afternoon, opening with a procession from the clock tower to Coronation Park, where a programme of novelty pvents will be staged. Waipawa has established an enviable reputation for the excellence of its processions, and to-morrow’s promises to be no exception to the rule. Prizes will be awarded for (1) Most appropriate Centennial display float; (2) best appropriate costnme (lady or gentleman); (3) best appropriate costume for child; (4) most humorous costnme, adult; (5) most Vmmorous costume, child; (6) best decorated motor ear; (7) best decorated bicycle or tricycle. Post entries will be received, but up to the present the following have been received:—Maori float. Limbrick Bros., Williams and Kettle. Plunket Society, Women’s Institute, Abbotsford Lodge. Ashbv Bros., Boy Scouts, Fire Brigade. Salon Vogue, and Red Cross. It is anticipated that there will he many more entries. OLD IDENTITIES. The Centeninal Committee have endeavored to get into touch with as many old identities of the district as possible, and they will be guests of honor. The occasion will afford an opportunity for reviving memories of days that are gone and of recounting

the troubles and trials of pioneer life. The committee would be pleased if any old residents who have not yet been approached would get into touch with them. AT THE PARK. Arrived at Coronation Park a start will immediately be made with the novelty sports programme, with abundance of races for the children, novelty events for adults, inter-house competitions physical drill by High School boys, and a tug-of-war. Altogether the programme gives promise of an excellent afternoon’s enjoyment, only fine weather and a bumper attendance of the public being required to ensure its success.
