ONGA ONGA SPORTS

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL MEETING FAST TIMES RECORDED. Splendid entries were received for the Onga Onga Centennial Sports, held on the popular Domain ground on Monday, and, favored by perfect weather, the attendance was large and the day proved most enjoyable. A feature of the athletic events was the fast times recorded, indicating that the track was in fine order and that the standard of amateur athletics is not deteriorating.

A very considerable amount of interest attached to the axemen ' h events, which were well contested and provided some keen competition. The wrestling bouts, too, were an attractive feature of the programme. The secretary, Mr H. Boyce, had the various details essential to the successful running of a sports meeting well worked out, and he was ally supported by an energetic committee. In the evening a very successful dance was held in the Onga Onga Hall, excellent music being provided by Te Tau’s orchestra. Following are the details of ,’ie sports events: — CHILDREN’S EVENTS.
