PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr R. S. J. Pedler, of Dannevirke, a resident of Waipawa some years ago, was in town on Monday renewing old friendships. Dr. E. Kidston, 0.8. E., director of meteorological services in New Zealand, died suddenly at Wellington yesterday.
The Governor-General (Lord Galway) will leave Auckland to-morrow and is expected to resume residence at Government House, Wellington, at the week-end. Mr G. G. Chisholm, clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Napier and Official Assignee, has received notice of his appointment as a stipendiary magistrate, and he will take up his new duties almost immediately.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Patangata County Council at Waipnkurau Mr C. Pattison was reelected chairman, a position he has held for the past twenty years. In moving his re-election Mr R. H. White paid tribute to Mr Pattison’s sound judgment in the administration of the affairs of the County. At the last Oddfellows’ Conference, held at Auckland, Mr N. J. McKay, of Waipawa, was elected Deputy-Grand Master, but owing to illness was unable to be present when the installation took place. This ceremony has now been scheduled to take place at a special meeting of Abbotsford Lodge on Saturday, Juno 24th, when it is anticipated that there will he a representative attendance from all the lodges in the territory.
